ACCRA: EDUCATION MINISTER VISITS EXAMINATION CENTRES

The Minister's first port of call is the Tema Secondary School. The centre has a total of 945 students registered for the B.E.C.E., but two were absent. At the Manhean Secondary School, 291 students took part in the exams but four were reported absent. However, a special care has been given to candidates with visual and hearing impairments. She proceeded her visit to the St. Peters Catholic Basic School in Tema and the Ashiamang Senior High School. According to the Minister, the government is committed to expanding infrastructure in the S.H.S level to accommodate students who will pass the B.E.C.E. She commended the West African Examination Council, the Ghana Education Service, teachers and invigilators for ensuring a calm and decent examination The national figures for registered students writing the 2014 B.E.C.E totaled 422,946 out of which 223,765 are males and 199,181 are females. And the personnel to help supervise the over 2,500 examination centres across the country numbered 2,863.
