SPORTS: ASAMOAH GYAN CONTRACT RENEWED

United Arab Emirates giants Al Ain are ready to hand striker Asamoah Gyan a bumper new deal to ward off interest from football scouts. Gyan has two years left on his current contract and the dethroned Arabian Gulf League champions to lock him into a fresh deal until 2018. The Ghana captain, who is at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, was a target of English Premier League and some European clubs during the January transfer window. Gyan has deferred talks about his future until after the tournament in Brazil this summer but Al Ain officials are confident their star striker will put pen to paper. Gyan has been an unparalleled success in the UAE following his initial loan move from Premier League side Sunderland in 2011. The Ghanaian has gone on to score 104 goals in all competitions, and Al Dhaheri is confident there will be plenty more to come.
