ACCRA: SOUTHERN SECTOR MUSICAL COMPETITION

The Nation Cadet Corp has a membership of 46,380 spread across 223 schools throughout the ten regions of the country. The theme for the programme, “Be Part of Something Beautiful,” aims at developing the musical talents of the youth. The brass band musical competition organized by the Central Cadet Band Unit of the National Cadet Corps in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces was also to rekindle the youth’s interest in brass band music. Participating brass band groups were drawn from schools in the southern sector; the Oti Boateng Senior High School, the Akuamuman Senior High School and the Victory Brass Band from Akatsi. The Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations,Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere who was the special guest of honour, admonished the competitors to be disciplined and focused on their education. The Victory Brass Band and the Oti Boateng Cadet group came first and second respectively. They will compete in the semi-final and final competition at the Naval Base at Tema in December. The Northern Sector competition was held on the 4th of October at the 4th Battalion of Infantry in Kumasi.
