GHACEM DONATES CEMENT TO THE GHANA NAVY

The Ghana Cement Company has presented thousand cement bags valued at about forty thousand Ghana Cedis to the Ghana Naval Base. The donation is to support the completion of the new Navy headquarters office.
The new Naval Headquarters building is expected to house the administration intelligence and library departments including other auxiliary facilities. Real Admiral Geoffrey MawuliBiekro, the Chief of the Naval Staff says the project was discontinued at the first phase in 2003 due to financial constraints. He was thankful to GHACEM for the donation. Mr. Morten Gade, managing director of GHACEM, said the donation was part of the company’s social responsibility to improve national security. The out-going Minister of Defence, Mark Woyongo, noted that the donation came at an opportune time particularly at a time the navy is undertaking various construction projects. Mr. Woyongo used the occasion to comment on the recent maritime security threats posed by pirates including narcotic smuggling.
