ACCRA: GHANA NATIONAL SERVICE EDUCATES THE PUBLIC ON FIRE SAFETY

The Ghana National Fire Service confirms that between January 1 and 7, this year, Ghana has recorded 160 fire outbreaks across the country. The need for to ensure that the public are sensitized on basic fire safety measures is why management of the service has embarked on an education campaign at markets and public places. The Ghana National Fire Service Education Group officer Madam Genevieve Derby says the service is undertaking some initiatives to curb the rampant fire outbreaks this season.
The Director of Fire Safety, Ebenezer Simpson, says water is what they mainly use to quench fires. However in the case of liquid fires caused by either petrol or gas a foamy chemical mixed with water is used to quench the fire.
