HFC Bank Donates to Students' Financial Aid Office of University of Ghana

HFC Bank Ghana Ltd honoured its annual corporate donations themed “Power to Make a Difference” by presenting a cheque of GHC21000.00 to the Students’ Financial Aid Office (SFAO) of the University of Ghana as well as other beneficiary Institutions.
The Managing Director of HFC Bank, Mr. Robert Le Hunte in his keynote address, noted that the bank’s standards of excellence which has enabled it to be very successful over the years, involved its corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive. He acknowledged the essence of service to humanity as being the best way to life, hence his bank’s 25 years of commitment to helping the less privileged in society. Mr. Le Hunte said he was grateful to the Board, Management and staff of HFC Bank for sharing their insight, resources, and energy to bring the bank to where it is today. He called on all the Institutions to make a prudent use of the money in order to solve their challenges, adding that he would together with his Stakeholders pay visits to the institutions to acquaint themselves on progress of work.
The Fundraiser for Students’ Financial Aid Office Mrs. Maame Efua Ocansey, who received the cheque on behalf of the University, said her special appreciation goes to HFC Bank for coming on board to help fund the academic and residential fees of the brilliant and needy students in the University. This support, she noted has helped more than 20 students to secure admission to the University of Ghana. Mrs. Ocansey emphasized the need to foster close collaboration between the SFAO and donor partners so as to minimize the financial burden facing most brilliant and needy students in Ghana.
Performing the presentation to the 11 Institutions were the MD, Mr. Robert Le Hunte, the Executive Director for Finance and Customer Development Mr. Osei Asafo Agyei, the General Manger for Corporate Services Mrs. Beatrice Ama Amoah and the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Emily Clegg-Lamptey.
The beneficiary Institutions selected for this year’s support package are the Ghana Heart Foundation, Ghana Blind Union, the Accident Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, SOS Ghana, the Catholic Action for Street Children, Ghana Parents Association for Children Cancers, Help Age Ghana, the National Partnership for Children Trust, Knowledge Tree Centre and the Bonwrei Anglican Primary School from Kumasi. The reps of each Institution received between GHC14000.00 and GHC30000.00. They cited the usefulness of the sponsorship and thanked HFC Bank for their benevolence, which they hope would continue in the ensuing years.
